Add an installation or asset

The global Add page is available to company owners and contains two code-backed workflows.

Claim an existing controller with its verification details, or create a virtual parent for organisational purposes.

Claim a controller

Use this workflow when the controller already exists and should be linked to the current company.

1. Open Add in the SmartgridX navigation.
2. Enter the controller serial number.
3. Enter the verification code supplied for that controller.
4. Submit the claim.
5. Confirm that the controller site and its hierarchy appear in the expected installation group.

The application normalises the serial number to uppercase and validates missing serial numbers, missing verification codes, unknown controllers, invalid codes, and recent failed attempts.

Create a virtual asset

Use this workflow for a supported manually managed node type.

1. Open Add.
2. Enter a clear asset name.
3. Select one of the node types marked as creatable by the application.
4. Submit the form.
5. Configure its hierarchy, monitoring relations, streams, and visibility as required.

The new asset receives a generated identifier beginning with custom- and initially has no descendants or telemetry series.

After adding

• assign the correct site tag;
• confirm timezone and location;
• verify whether it should be active and included in monitored tables;
• assign users and contacts;
• check whether charts receive valid streams;
• configure alarms, targets, reports, and public displays only after the hierarchy is correct.
